In the summer of 2010 my Grampa was diagosed with ALS. A week and 1/2 before Christmas he passed away from complications of the disease. In looking ahead at 2011, I have made it my resolution to run a 5K each month of the year to raise money and awareness for the ALS Association. Every step of the way he is with me and every step of the way we are helping those that will receive the diagnosis this year and/or are currently living with the devastating disease that is ALS. Please donate if you are able by visiting the following link to the Community of Hope Fund page set up in Grampa Hudson's memory. You could donate a small amount each month or a large lump sum for the year, no amount is too small and you can do it when its most convenient for you! http://web.alsa.org/goto/hudsonshoofer

Fundraising Update

Happy March to you!

Training went well last week which I hope to continue with this week! I attended a fighter conditioning class at Peter Welch's Boxing gym and it kicked my a$$! I could definitely fall in love with doing that class. So much so that Ash and I bought a package of 5 classes for $25 to continue the good work!

Training will continue this week and next with  the March run culminating on the 20th with the South Boston 5K with my sister, brother in law and a couple hundred other people looking to off-set their beer consumption this month.

I wanted to send a huge shout out and thank you to my Winter 2011 donators who have to date helped me to raise just over $500 with 10 more months to go! If I can raise at a rate of $500 per month I will have reached my goal by December and with the fundrasiers and calendar I should have no problem hitting that stride. So big thank you to the following folks for helping beat ALS:
Tom and Marsha
Ash
Chuck & Sandy
Melanie
Tommy and Krissy
Ashley and Dig
Richard, Jr. and Anne
Mike, Kellye, Charlie & Chase

Check in next week for a training update,  the March race playlist which is certain to be replete with tons of kicka$$ Irish jams from my favorite boys the Saw Docs and a few appearances by Flogging Molly! and possible announcement of the April, May, June races which are soon to be decided.

Happy March, one of the best months of the year!
